The walk from the locker room to the ring was always the hardest thing to do for Aiden Bryon. So many thoughts going through his head trying to fast forward and find out what the future was about to hold for him. But this particular walk to the ring was going to be the toughest and longest for Aiden because not only was he trying to picture the future but he also had to fight the wicked past that was also trying to make an appearance. The loss that he was handed out last time that not only nearly ended his career but also his life was dished out by the same rival that he was about to make his comeback against. Jason Coombs, the seven foot giant from the beaches of Miami was frightening enough watching on a little black box at home or from ringside but Aiden was about to step into the same ring as him, standing toe to toe. Yikes!
As the announcer began the introductions, Aidens heart missed a beat. After that first word it was like someone put the replay of the last fight on repeat in his mind. Each time more brutal than the last. Even with all that he was not going to shy away from a fight, he never had and never would. That’s why he was a champion. Before that life changing fight he was the best. Number one. Unstoppable. And he still had that mentality.
As Aidens team entered the locker room which meant it was time. As he walked down the cold dark hall the chilling feeling of losing again was the only thing occupying his mind. His team began to talk to him but it was not worth it because as the hall got smaller and brighter the noise, smell and heat of the arena took control. As the announcer made Aidens introduction it was drowned out by the sound of angry fans booing and throwing whatever was in their hands at him which just made him more hungry for the win. He quickly got into the ring and got himself ready for something that had been haunting his dreams for months.
Out of the darkness the nightmare himself appeared followed by the eruption of the crowd, jumping up and down enough that it would have appeared on a seismographic network. That’s when Aiden realised he wasn’t the king anymore. Coombs was. This was his kingdom and I was a guest about to feel the full wrath of it. The first step from Coombs had a major impact on Aiden. He was hit by a tsunami of emotions but the biggest one was fear. The fear of losing. The fear of embarrassment. The biggest fear was that of the monster in front of him and what he was about to do to him. In the next minute though after his paralysed session the mungral in him took over and was ready to fight. DING!
The whole first round Aiden threw the whole kitchen sink at Coombs and all he got in return was a brutal beating in the second round. With everything punch, every drop of sweat and blood Aiden was closer and closer to going back to the light. It was all but over. DING! The cliche of being saved by the bell never fitted a scenario better. The third round changed the whole fight. Aiden came out with everything he had left with one punch into the right side of his body. CRACK! Everyone went silent except for the scream from Coombs caused by the sheer pain of what just happened. Aiden knew that this was his chance to get himself back. The rest of that round was complete carnage. DING! The whole atmosphere of the arena had changed. The fans had turned against their Goliath and started to cheer for David instead.
The final round began. No matter what Coombs tried, the experience of Aiden in these scenarios triumphed. BANG! Coombs hit the ground hard. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5! 4! 3! 2! 1! DING! DING! The fight was over. He did it. The king was back. The emotions could be seen all over Aidens face. The fear and anxiety had disappeared completely and all the appearance was happiness, relief and a little bit of pain. He grabbed the belt knowing that it was his again. The next words echoed throughout the arena. As Aiden held the belt up in the air and yelled through the microphone “if anyone wants this, come and get me”!
